On hiatus.
Memorial Day Weekend BBQ
I just love how a beautiful day and delicious food can bring people together. I haven't had so much fun playing frisbee or running around outside in a long while, and my feet were proof of that (feet and calves were completely covered with dirt by the time the day ended).
Just in time for Mother's Day.

I have one amazing mom.
In honor of Mother's Day, as well as her May 15th birthday, my mom has decided to take the 30-Day PETA "Veg Pledge" as a way of improving her health, conditions for farm animals, and the environment this month. I am so proud of my mom for her bravery and openness, so much so that I wanted to share it with everyone on my blog.
My mom has always supported my decision to go vegan with endless amounts of acceptance and love. She has been one of the most encouraging forces in every area of my life, and her decision to give veganism a try proves even more what a caring, as well as daring, woman my mom is. Go mom!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers - human, as well as animal - out there this year!
The best mac and cheese in the world.
I didn't think it could be done.
Happy Earth Day!
Did you know a vegan lifestyle is one of the top ways to reduce your carbon footprint?
Here's why:
"The United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization made public their findings that “the livestock sector generates more greenhouse gas emissions as measured in CO2 equivalent – 18 percent – than transport.” Henning Steinfeld, Chief of FAO’s Livestock Information and Policy Branch went on to say that ““Livestock are one of the most significant contributors to today’s most serious environmental problems. Urgent action is required to remedy the situation.” Before then the University of Chicago had already produced research showing how diet impacts the environment, and that a vegetarian or vegan diet can have more effect on your carbon footprint than switching from a gas-guzzler to a hybrid car."
This is a passage taken from an article from http://www.ecostreet.com/, and here's the link to the rest of it:

So, why not eat vegan, or at least forgo meat for Earth Day? I'd say it's a small sacrifice with a huge payoff for our Earth.
Adventures of an Internet-Searching Vegan
I just stumbled upon Joanna Vaught's blog, and she has a great article everyone should read: "Five Misconceptions about Veganism". Check it out:

And while I'm at it, here's another blog I'm absolutely obsessed with. It's called "Fatfree Vegan Kitchen", and it's amazing:

Finally, if you've been thinking of trying vegetarianism or veganism, but only want to take baby steps, why not go veg in May?
